In a town drowning in secrets, the truth can be a dangerous thing.

The monarch butterflies inhabiting the makeshift conservatory in Gabe Miller’s back yard are anxious these days, a sign perhaps that the snowfall, usually a rare event in the southern town of Sallow Cove, is not a one-off. And while Gabe’s dreams have been troubled ever since young Tommy Gatwood fell to his death thirty-two years ago, all Gabe can focus on now is the crimson convertible he saw speeding away the day his wife and child went missing.

A former psychiatrist who’s been on a downward spiral since his family was torn apart, Gabe buries himself under stacks of police files, desperately searching for any clues to what happened to his missing family. He thinks John Henry hasn’t noticed the missing files, but he noticed, and when a young woman is found wandering in the town’s historic cemetery under unusual circumstances, Gabe’s brother senses an opportunity to save two lost souls and John Henry uses his influence as the Deputy Chief of Police to have the woman remanded to Gabe’s care.

A reluctant Gabe refuses to buy in to her delusion that she’s an angel fallen from heaven, but he’s drawn into her spell—even if he can’t explain her insights into Kary and Skye’s disappearance and what really happened at the old train bridge near Willow Island. And on the eve of Sallow Cove’s very first Pride parade, as strangers arrive with hate in their hearts and determined to fight what they do not understand, Gabe will be forced to confront the unsettling truth about his past.
